If your giving your dog eggs for the first time, start with a small amount. It would also be good to always ask your vet first before bringing any new food into your dog’s diet. As some breeds are more prone to dog allergies than others.

And even though eggs are so rich in different nutrients, they shouldn’t be given as a main meal. Instead, give your dog eggs as an occasional treat or as a filler food.

The best possible option would be to cook the eggs before feeding them to your dog. Raw eggs can in some rare cases cause Biotin deficiency or salmonella infection.

It doesn’t matter how you prepared the eggs — hard boiled, scrambled, poached… It only matters that they are cooked.

Always start by feeding just one egg to your dog. Like we already stated, eggs shouldn’t be the main meal. If you don’t notice any stomach issues in your dog after feeding them eggs, you’re good.

Never overfeed your dog with eggs. Even though they are rich in nutrients, they are also packed with fatty acids and calories. Which could lead to weight gain in dogs.

In most cases, your dog shouldn’t eat more than one egg a day. It doesn’t have to be part of their full meal. You can also give it to your pup as an daily treat during the day.
