A TikTok video featuring a proud owner showcasing the size of her St. Bernard has amazed social media users. This furball is definitely not small!
In the video posted last Sunday, @magmatthews_ on TikTok wanted to introduce her 3-month-old St. Bernard puppy to the world.
What’s the reason behind the showcase? Well, this pup is almost as heavy as a young teenager!
With all her strength, she lifts up the puppy, who weighs a hefty 50 pounds. For comparison, a female St. Bernard of this age typically weighs between 37 and 48 pounds.
It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that this dog is only 3 months old and still has a lot of growing to do. St. Bernards don’t reach full size until around 2 years old, so it’s safe to say that this owner will have her hands full.
The most delightful part of the video is that this not-so-small pup is completely unaware of her size. Her face beams with happiness as the owner cradles her like a baby.
Little does she know that she won’t be getting the baby treatment for much longer at the rate she’s growing.
The response to the TikTok video has been as rapid as the growing pup. As of Thursday, it had over 620,000 views, 135,900 likes, and 656 comments.
To say that viewers are astonished would be an understatement.
“Omg, when my Saint was 12 weeks old, she was only around 25 pounds!” one viewer shared.
Others highlighted the positive side, saying, “Fifty pounds of pure love.”
One person even made a prediction: “Judging by the size of her head and those paws, you’re looking at least 135 lbs. She’s stunning.”
The owner is no stranger to large dogs, mentioning that she already has a 3-year-old male dog weighing 185 pounds.
Despite their massive size, St. Bernards are generally less active compared to other large dog breeds, which means they might not require as much space.
However, owners should be prepared for a giant fluff ball of this breed to occupy a significant amount of space. St. Bernards can weigh anywhere between 120 and 200 pounds, with males typically weighing over 140 pounds and females ranging between 120 and 140 pounds.
