Temperament

So you can probably guess their temperament, can’t you? When looking at a well-trained and socialized American Bulldog Pitbull Mix you will find a protective yet reserved dog. They make great family dogs, are cheerful and loving. However, we already mentioned this above, it all depends on how you behave with your dog. She should not be aggressive but in fact, can be very sweet. She loves to have fun, needs lots of attention, and is very brave and loyal. Sometimes she will be quite entertaining with her antics. But at the same time, she is a good watchdog and guard dog. She is quite an energetic dog so will need lots of play and exercise.

Appearance

This is a medium to a large dog weighing 40 to 80 pounds and standing 20 to 24 inches tall. She has cute floppy or rosebud ears, a black nose, a broad head, and a short muzzle. Her body is thick and strong and her tail is long and tapered. Her coat is short and fine and comes in colors such as black, tan, red, yellow, gray, golden, cream and white.

Exercise

You can now probably assume that this dog needs a lot of time since she has a lot of energy. She is quite active so needs a lot of activity each day to stay well-behaved, happy, healthy and in a good shape for a long time. Included with that should be some mental exercises also. She would be best with owners who enjoy being outside and active themselves, jogging, running, long walks, and so on. If you like to ride a bicycle, you can attach her along and have fun while exercising.

Visits to the dog park would also be a good idea as long as socialization has occurred and the American Bulldog Pitbull Mix is well trained to behave properly in the parks.

Grooming

She sheds low to average amounts but it can increase during the seasons for shedding as with many dogs nowadays. Brushing should be done two or three times a week when she is not shedding too heavily, or daily if she is.

However, you may need to clean up after her and deal with hair elsewhere like the furnishings. Since her coat is short and smooth you can use a damp washcloth and wipe her down now and then, it will help remove loose hairs as well as keep her clean.

A bath can be just for when she is especially dirty, and that usually happens when she comes back from the dog park.

You will need to brush her teeth two to three times a week, check and wipe her ears clean once a week and then clip her nails or have them done at a groomer when they get too long.

Health Concerns

Because the American Bulldog Pitbull Mix has a thin coat as mentioned before she will need sunscreen if out and when is too hot otherwise, she can burn and that can cause health issues. However, there are health issues the parents are more at risk of that can be passed down to any offspring. For this dog, it includes Hypothyroidism, heart disease, eye problems, hip dysplasia, allergies, and reverse sneezing. Just keep your dog in a good shape, feed her properly, give her enough time and clean her on a regular basis so you can avoid all of the risks above.

Cost of a Pitbull Bulldog Mix

So by now, you probably asked yourself how much this dog costs? Puppies can cost anywhere between $250 to $2000. However, you also need her to have a collar and leash, a crate, and other basic essential items for $160 to $200. She will need to be dewormed, microchipped, spayed, vaccinated, and have blood tests done. Those costs come from $290 to $320. Yearly basic medical costs come to between $485 to $600 which is for vaccinations, check-ups, pet insurance, and flea prevention. Yearly costs for other basics such as food, license, toys, training, and treats come to between $510 to $650. Looks pretty much for one dog, huh?
