White German Shepherd Husky Mix

White German Shepherd Husky Mix
White German Shepherd Husky Mix

The white German Shepherd Husky Mix puppy is a new but increasingly popular crossbreed. Yes, we do have to admit — it’s a mouthful. The White German Shepherd Husky Mix combines the greatest qualities of both breeds and the most appealing and gorgeous hue. Just like the parent breeds, this breed is pretty popular too. This Siberian Husky mix has a reputation for being both powerful and intelligent.

Other names for the Shepsky breed are Gerberian Shepskies, and in this article, we will cover the history of the parent breeds, the appearance of this mix, and much more!

History of the parent breeds

The Husky German Shepherd cross is a relatively new breed combination. However, the history of its two parents is both intriguing and somewhat lengthy. And by looking at them from a historical perspective, we may learn a great deal about this adorable cross.

In short, they are both hardworking, clever, and cooperative breeds, and they make excellent companions. In addition to working as guard dogs, police dogs, service dogs, and herding dogs, German Shepherds have also been used as herding dogs. Huskies have been used as sled dogs and companions for thousands of years.

Sadly, we don’t know when exactly this mixed breed was created. Mixed breeds have been around for a long time. So, it’s conceivable that these two breeds have been mixed at some point in their history. Both unintentionally and deliberately!

But, for now, let’s look at the history of both parent breeds separately.

Siberian Husky history

The Chukchi people of Northeast Asia were responsible for the development of the Siberian Huskies more than 3,000 years ago. The breed was developed primarily for hauling sleds and other heavy loads. Siberian Huskies are descended from the Spitz breed, according to genetics.

One of the best-known examples of the breed’s racing prowess occurred when a team of Siberians raced more than 300 miles through blizzards to bring serum to the Alaskan city of Nome at the height of a diphtheria outbreak.

The breed was introduced to the United States in the early twentieth century and was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1930 when it was formally acknowledged. Today, Siberian Huskies are mostly renowned as companion dogs, and they are placed 12th on the American Kennel Club’s list of the most popular dog breeds in the United States.

German Shepherd history

People say that the German Shepherd is related to German herding dogs, which changed in type depending on where they were raised. The German Shepherd is named after these dogs.

Breeders and dog lovers worked together in the 1800s to create a wide range of German herding dogs that are still alive today. This led to the modern-day German Shepherd that we all love today.

Today, the German Shepherd is a well-known breed of dog for police and military work all over the world. Did you know that most of his skills came from the years he spent as a sheepherder?

To be a good working dog, a German Shepherd needs to be very smart, have a lot of dedication, and not be afraid.

As of October 2019, the German Shepherd is placed second on the American Kennel Club’s list of the most popular dog breeds in the United States of America!

Shepsky dog breed – Parent breeds appearance

Siberian Huskies are a breed of dog that originated in Siberia. One of the parent breeds of the white German Shepherd is a medium-sized working dog, whereas the German Shepherd is a herding dog that enjoys working.

There aren’t many Husky Mix breeds around. In Canada, white-coat lines of the German Shepherd dog are the White Shepherd’s major ancestors.

The white German Shepherd Dog has fought hard to become a purebred dog breed. As a result, producing entirely white German Shepherd puppies requires a purposeful and regular breeding approach.

Siberian Husky appearance

Huskies, with their upright ears, beautiful blue eyes, and a well-furred physique and coat color, are the world’s 15th most popular dog breed, according to the United Nations. Traveling, walking, and jogging are some of their favorite activities. They also take pleasure in spending time with their owners and other family members.

Male Huskies stand between 20 and 24 inches tall, while females are between 20 and 22 inches tall. Male Huskies weigh between 40 and 60 pounds, and female huskies weigh between 30 and 50 pounds.

The Siberian dog breed has a typical lifetime is between 10 and 15 years.

White German Shepherd appearance

In many ways, white German Shepherds are much like their tan-colored counterparts. Depending on the gender, the White German Shepherd may weigh anywhere from 50 to 85 pounds. They are a huge dog breed, with a shoulder height ranging from 22 to 26 inches. Females, on the other hand, are typically smaller than males.

It’s no wonder that they’re a robust and athletic breed, given that they were developed for their ability to labor. Strong and proud, they feature upright ears and a proud stance. Even as pups, their paws are enormous!

There are two distinct coat types in the White German Shepherd: a short coat and a long coat, and they have a  double coat.

The White German Shepherd, of course, has a white coat. This is what sets them apart and makes them one-of-a-kind dogs. But it is important to note that it does not affect their skin or eye pigmentation because of the recessive white coat recessive gene.

The temperament of White Shepsky

When it comes to white German Shepherd Husky Mixes, they may have various looks, but they also have varied personalities based on their parents’ attributes. In general, the disposition of the German Shepherd Husky Mix is excellent.

They are sociable and gentle, with Husky attributes of loyalty and bravery, and Shepherd qualities of loyalty and bravery. Huskie does not get along well with strangers. The combination strikes the ideal note of harmony. When your white German Shepherd reaches adulthood, it will protect you and your family from harm. White German Shepherd Husky Mix also provides you with a lifetime of affection, cuddles, and charming moments.

They get along nicely with youngsters and, if properly socialized from an early age, can coexist with other animals. When properly trained, the German Shepherd Husky hybrid breed is extremely clever and learns quickly.

Size and appearance

The Shepsky is a relatively new breed, so there are limited size guidelines. We don’t have a lot of information about their appearance at all.

What we do know is that Shepskies are medium to large-sized dogs. This is because their parent breeds the German Shepherd and Siberian Husky are quite large as well.

The majority of them weigh 45 to 90 pounds and stand 20 to 25 inches tall at the shoulder. But, there are exceptions to the rule too, so they can be smaller or larger.

Shepskies are known for having long, thick coats, and they are often not suggested for persons who suffer from allergies. They have a tendency to shed a bunch. They have erect ears and can have blue or dark brown eyes.

Grooming tips

The white German Shepherd Husky mix has a fluffy coat that needs a lot of grooming. They also have a double coat, which makes upkeep a lot harder. But some certain tips and tricks can make the whole process easier.

It comes as no surprise that this hybrid dog will shed throughout the whole year. This is because their double coat is quite thick and long.

This is because their double coat is quite thick and long. So you must make sure that you brush them at least twice or three times a week. During the shedding season, it would be optimal if you could brush them every day!

Bathing is not required regularly — just when they seem to be filthy or start to smell.

It is also important that you brush their teeth every day to avoid tooth decay and gum disease, you can also provide them with dental chews daily to aid in keeping their mouths and teeth clean.

A pro tip we have for all dog owners is to start grooming your dog at an early age. This way you will reduce the likelihood of the grooming being an unpleasant experience for them.  This will show them that there is nothing to be afraid of.

Health and exercise needs of the White German Shepherd Husky Mix

Some of the same issues that the German Shepherd and Siberian Husky suffer from also affect their crossbreed. While most are typically healthy, some may be prone to a few health problems, which is why proper care and regular veterinary visits are essential.

The following are some of the more common health issues that Shepskys face:

  1. Hip Dysplasia
  2. Eye problems
  3. Epilepsy

It should come as no surprise that this white dog breed is very energetic and has high activity requirements.

Ensure that you are exercising your German Shepherd Husky Mix for 60 to 90 minutes per day, at least. This includes activities such as hikes, plays, and mental games.

If you live in an apartment with a tiny backyard, your dog will not be able to receive the exercise he or she needs since you will not have enough space. They might develop undesirable and harmful habits as a result of irritation and boredom if they do not get enough exercise.

White German Shepherd Husky Mix Puppy

It’s not difficult to find white German Shepherd Husky Mix puppies. Because of the popularity of both breeds, their puppies can be found all across the country. There are a few key guidelines to follow to increase your chances of bringing home a healthy, happy new companion.

The cost of a German Shepherd is typically lower than that of a Siberian Husky. The cost of their combined progeny, on the other hand, varies.

White German Shepherd Husky Mixes cost between $400 and $1,500. Be wary of any puppy that appears to be too good to be true. It requires money to breed a healthy litter of puppies from healthy parents. It all adds up: health screenings, veterinarian care, immunizations, and flea and worming treatments.

If the purchase of a puppy isn’t enough to meet these costs, the puppies’ and parents’ welfare will eventually be jeopardized.

Husky Shepherd Mix and other pets and children

A Shepsky is a fantastic friend for youngsters if they’re well-trained and have had ample exposure to them, especially as puppies. Some people compare them to a cross between a babysitter and a cop, as they are both gentle and protective of their family’s children.

Always teach youngsters how to approach and touch dogs, and supervise any interactions between dogs and small children to avoid biting or ear or tail pulling on either party’s side. Teach your child to never approach a dog that is eating or attempting to grab the dog’s food. A child should never be left alone with a dog.

Because the Shepsky is part of a pack, it should be socialized at a young age. If the German Shepherd parentage personality prevails, introducing an adult Shepsky to a household with other pets might be more difficult.

I feel your writting/promoting new breeds of dog such as White German Shepherd Husky Mix. It's a fact we have so many homeless dogs and cats that creating new breeds or so called designer dogs is so irresponsible when we can't even control the current situation

Hi @Gail b,

You are right. We spend so many times and articles promoting adoption. Almost in every article we link to adoption centres and recommend adoption before buying a new dog.

Thank you for your comment and let's make the world a better place for us and dogs.
