The Labradoodle is a hybrid dog breed. It emerged in Australia in the late 1980s. The first litter came from a crossover of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. The creator wanted to breed a guide dog that would be suited for people with allergies. Studies have since then found that these dogs have more Poodle than Labrador genes.
These pups usually have long legs, lean bodies and droppy-looking eyes. Their coat comes in many different textures and colors — from curly to shaggy, and from black to red, golden or even silver.
One very positive thing about this breed is that they usually don’t affect people with allergies. Thanks to their hypoallergenic coats, they are very popular amongst many people.
Generally speaking, labradoodles are very friendly and social dogs. However, they are also very energetic and can knock smaller people over when they are excited. That’s why it’s so important to train them properly.
They are great as guide and family dogs, however they aren’t the best choice for a watchdog.
Labradoodles are full of energy and are at their happiest while running or playing outside. That’s why daily long walks are needed. While they are very adaptable, a home with a big back yard would be ideal.
These dogs are highly intelligent and love to use their brain while exercising or training. Thats why playing fetch or agility training is perfect for them.
If your Labradoodle comes from a reliable breeder, they are usually healthy dogs with an average risk of illness.
